Qaddam Wasal trucking platform screens

01 — Overview

The brief behind the build

Saudi Arabia's road-freight market is huge — and still largely offline. Loads get matched over phone calls and WhatsApp, brokers sit between shippers and drivers, and once a truck leaves the yard, visibility disappears. Qaddam Wasal set out to digitize that flow with a single, localized platform.

The MVP had to serve three very different users at once: shippers posting loads, drivers accepting and fulfilling them, and an operations team overseeing the marketplace — all in Arabic-first, right-to-left layouts that feel native rather than translated.

02 — The challenge

What made it hard

  • Designing one product language across three surfaces — a driver mobile app, an operations admin panel, and a public marketing site.
  • RTL and Arabic typography as a first-class citizen, not an afterthought layered on a left-to-right grid.
  • Booking a load and tracking a shipment had to feel effortless for non-technical drivers, often on the move.
  • Shipping an MVP fast — clear enough to test with real users, structured enough to scale into a full product.

03 — Approach

How I worked through it

Discover

Map the flow

Studied how loads move today — shippers, brokers, drivers — and where the friction and drop-offs live.

Define

Three roles, one system

Framed the core jobs for shipper, driver, and ops, and the shared components that keep them consistent.

Design

RTL-first UI

Built accessible, Arabic-first screens from low to high fidelity — booking, matching, and live tracking.

Validate

Test & refine

Pressure-tested flows against real tasks and trimmed steps until booking and tracking felt obvious.

Ship

Hand off

Delivered a documented MVP and assets engineering could build against without guesswork.

05 — Outcome

What shipped

A coherent MVP across three surfaces, built on one design language — ready to put in front of real shippers and drivers and iterate from there.

Driver mobile app

Browse and accept loads, navigate, and update shipment status on the go.

Operations panel

A control room for matching, monitoring, and managing the marketplace.

Marketing website

A public face that explains the platform and onboards both sides of the market.
